Travellers Beach Hotel

Travelers Beach Resort

My girlfriends and I had been looking for the perfect destination for a getaway. The girls’ trip had been something we had been looking forward to for a little over a year. But one thing was for sure! That we wanted to enjoy the striking views of the Kenyan coast while relaxing on the breathtaking beaches, slowly sipping our cocktails and engaging in unfiltered conversation. For one, we were definitely looking for a destination that was budget-friendly and at the same time beautiful. But where would we start our search?

Just when we were about to give up, one of my family friends casually mentioned the Travellers Beach Hotel in a conversation. From how she was describing the place, I knew my friends would also love the idea of visiting Traveller’s Beach Hotel. Once I met with the girls, I told them about the Traveller’s Beach Hotel, and we all agreed that it was the ideal destination for our girls’ trip.

Although we had found the ideal destination for our girls’ getaway, we had no idea how to go about booking our trip. However, while scrolling on TikTok, I came across a post by Adequate Safaris offering information on packages for several coastal hotels, including Travellers Beach Hotel. The best thing about travelling with Adequate Safaris, as I gathered, was the simplified logistics and the pocket-friendly packages. This was exactly what the girls and I were looking for! To cut the long story short, we contacted an Adequate Safaris tour consultant to start the process of booking for our visit to the Traveller’s Beach Hotel. The extremely friendly and accommodating tour consultant tailored our package to meet all our needs and ensure we had an amazing girls’ getaway. To say that Adequate Safaris exceeded our expectations is an understatement. Their service was exemplary! So, if you are looking to visit Traveller’s Beach Hotel, trust Adequate Safaris to give you a package for an unmatched experience.

I know at this point you also want to visit Traveller’s Beach Hotel, just like my girls and I. Well, here are a few things you need to know about Traveller’s Beach Hotel to make sure you have an unparalleled experience.

Location

Traveller’s Beach Hotel, which is a 4-star hotel, is located on the Bamburi Beach in the Northern parts of the Kenyan coast, which is about 9.7 km (6 miles) from Mombasa city centre and 22.5 Km from the Moi International Airport. The hotel is beautifully set along the awe-inspiring shores of the Indian Ocean, allowing guests to enjoy the scenic views. In addition, Traveller’s Beach Hotel has a proximity to local attractions such as Haller Park, Mamba Village, Nguuni Nature Sanctuary, Fort Jesus, and Mombasa Marine Park and Reserve, among others.

My friends and I chose the SGR package to travel to the hotel, which is approximately 498 Km from Nairobi. It took us about 6 hours to travel to Mombasa using the SGR, and about an hour to transfer to Traveller’s Beach Hotel. As such, our journey lasted approximately 7 hours. One thing I loved about travelling in the SGR was that we got a chance to enjoy the scenic views on our way to Mombasa. The SGR also has spacious seating arrangements and is a much safer travelling option.

We decided to take the 5-day, 4-night all-inclusive package for Traveller’s Beach Hotel, which cost approximately $578 per person, because we travelled in September (which is a peak month). The rate was inclusive of SGR return tickets, coast transfers, 4 nights accommodation, daily meals, and unlimited access to the beautiful white sand Indian Ocean beaches. The rates may fluctuate depending on the season you decide to travel in, the meal plan (half-board, full-board, or all-inclusive), or the mode of transport you choose (SGR or flight).

However, you might also decide to select the flying package to get to Mombasa. It will take you approximately 1 hour to the Moi International Airport by flight. However, it might take you additional time due to the security checks and transfer from the airport to the hotel. As a result, your journey may take about 2-3 hours. A 5 days 4 nights flying package to Traveller’s Beach Hotel with Adequate Safaris may range between $562 and $698, depending on the season and meal plan (half-board, full-board, or all-inclusive).

It is, however, advisable that you contact Adequate Safaris at deals@adequatesafaris.com for the best package and accurate rates if you plan to visit the Traveller’s Beach Hotel.

Accommodation

The elegantly furnished rooms that would be our home for the next 5 days in Coast were nothing short of the magical destination that Adequate Safaris had promised us. We had booked standard rooms that were overlooking the beautifully manicured gardens with whistling and striking coconut trees. The hotel also has rooms or suites that overlook the sea or the swimming pool, offering guests unforgettable experiences. The check-in time was at 1200 hrs. It is important to note that the check-out time at the hotel is at 1000 hrs.

The harmonious color palette combined with the comfortable sitting area, a queen bed and a single bed, functional workspace, a TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, coffee and tea maker, spacious balcony, and meticulous attention to detail exceeded our expectations, making our getaway even more enjoyable. The standard rooms were spacious enough to fit an extra bed or even a baby cot.

Superior Room

While at Traveller’s Beach Hotel, I learned that the hotel also has superior rooms that have modern decor with a touch of cool blues and unlimited access to the breathtaking seafront. Superior rooms have air-conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, a spacious balcony, a hair dryer, a TV with premium channels, a telephone, bottled drinking water, a coffee and tea maker, a wardrobe, bathroom amenities, a sitting area, a work station, a mini-bar, and 24-hr room service.

Deluxe Room

My friends and I were also informed that the hotel has deluxe rooms, which offer guests a blend of comfort and style. The tranquil shades of blue in the deluxe rooms create a peaceful sanctuary for guests at the hotel. The convenient access to the swimming pool and nearby attractions, such as the city mall, provides guests with the opportunity to unwind and enjoy adventurous moments.

Family Room

While taking a tour around the hotel, we were shown the family rooms, which are carefully curated to ensure family members relax, bond, and create unforgettable memories. The family rooms can house up to 6 guests. The rooms have air-conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, a spacious balcony, a hair dryer, a TV with premium channels, a telephone, bottled drinking water, a coffee and tea maker, a wardrobe, bathroom amenities, a sitting area, a work station, a mini-fridge, and 24-hr room service.

PWD Room

One thing I found extremely thoughtful about the hotel’s services was the consideration of people with disabilities (PWD) by crafting rooms to meet their specific needs and allowing them to have a seamless experience. The PWD rooms have enhanced accessibility on the ground floor and wider doors and entryways. Additionally, the PWD rooms have thoughtfully designed bathrooms that have grab bars, shower benches, and special toilets. For a restful and rejuvenating stay for guests, PWD rooms are fitted with furniture with lower heights and luxurious king-size beds.

Suites

Traveller’s Beach Hotel features two suites, beautifully and elegantly furnished to ensure guests enjoy a luxurious and comfortable stay. The suites overlook the Indian Ocean, offering guests awe-inspiring views and a chance to enjoy the ocean’s fresh breeze. In addition, the suites have a large open balcony with comfortable outdoor sofas and beds. To add to the guests’ comfort and classic experience, the suites have soft lighting, an independent living room, a spacious room with a king-size bed, and fresh white beddings. Apart from all the other facilities in the hotel’s accommodations, the suites have Jacuzzis, and guests can be provided with breakfast in their rooms upon request.

Dining/ Cuisine

The dining experience at Traveller’s Beach Hotel for my girls and I was top-notch. At the hotel, we got a chance to enjoy sophisticated and elegant meals, blending Swahili, Indian, Italian, and international delicacies. The meals were exquisitely presented, paired with signature cocktails, making our stay at Traveller’s Beach Hotel even more luxurious and comfortable. While at the hotel, we dined at the Safina restaurant, where we enjoyed the irresistible buffets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We, however, learned that the hotel has other restaurants such as Shibe, which opens sporadically based on request. To get a taste of the vibrant Indian flavors, you can dine at the Shere Punjab Restaurant, which has an exceptional menu featuring classic dishes such as chicken tikka served à la carte for a personalized experience. Another restaurant at the hotel is the SuliSuli Restaurant, which is set against the backdrop of the breathtaking swimming pool. The SuliSuli Restaurant offers guests a delightful taste of seafood, snacks, refreshing beverages, and à la carte meals, which are perfect for families.

Experiences

My girls and I created memories that we will savor for a long time at Traveller’s Beach Hotel. Some of the activities that we engaged in and found extremely enjoyable included speed-boating, snorkelling, and kayaking. We really enjoyed using the hotel’s new Yamaha Waverunners, Cressi snorkeling equipment, stand—up paddling, and glass-bottom boat. The icing on the cake was the well-trained and friendly staff that ensured our experience was worth every penny and simply unforgettable.

We also enjoyed working out and engaging in aerobics and fun fitness challenges in the modern and well-equipped gym in the morning before going on to our day’s activities, ensuring that we kept fit and refreshed.

Our favourite experience at Traveller’s Beach Hotel was relaxing at the poolside while sipping some skilfully prepared and tasty cocktails and engaging in hearty conversations. It is an experience we won’t forget in a hurry.

In the evenings, our favourite spot to chill and unwind was at the bar. While the hotel boasts of other bars such as Msafiri, Kisima, SuliSuli, and Bahari Beach, all offering diverse experiences, our favorite one was the Pwani bar, where we enjoyed the breathtaking views of the beach and delicious meals while watching the tides and feeling the ocean breeze. The experience was truly out of this world!

Another fun and unforgettable experience for us at the hotel was the tour to the Marine Park. We really enjoyed snorkelling, sunbathing, diving, water skiing, and windsurfing at the Marine Park, giving us an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the park and create unparalleled memories. Because we are Kenyan citizens, we paid an entry fee of KShs 500 to access the Marine Park. Children who are citizens pay an entry fee of KShs 250. Resident adults pay an entry fee of KShs 675, while children pay KShs 350. Non-resident adults pay an entry fee of $25, while children pay $15. African citizen adults pay $15, while children pay $10.

Other activities you can also engage in at Traveller’s Beach Hotel include Hobie-Cats, squash, beach volleyball, and water polo, snooker/foosball, lawn tennis, table tennis, dart games, animation, tours to iconic landmarks such as Fort Jesus, and visiting the local markets for shopping sprees. It is, however, important to note that you should book these activities in advance or at the hotel’s reception, and you may incur extra costs for you.
