The distance between Nairobi and Mombasa is approximately 499 kms, which took us about 8 hours to cover. Upon reaching the Mombasa SGR terminus, an Adequate Safaris driver greeted us warmly before transferring us to the hotel, which was about 45 kms away, taking us about 45 minutes to get there.
However, you can choose to use the flight option to travel to Mombasa. The flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Moi International Airport in Mombasa will take you about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Moi International Airport is about 19.5 Km from the Bamburi Beach Hotel, taking you about 24 minutes to get there. However, the SGR package is much more affordable than the flight package if you are seeking a budget-friendly travel option.

We booked superior rooms so that we could enjoy comfort with a Swahili touch while soaking in the beautiful views of the pools and lush green gardens in the hotel. We booked one superior room for my husband and I and one superior room for our kids. The rooms had seats in the balcony, offering us a quiet spot to relax and enjoy the breathtaking ocean views and breeze. The King-size beds, which could be converted to two queen beds, allowed us to further experience comfort and luxury, meeting our getaway needs perfectly.
We learned that the superior rooms were on all three floors of the hotel. The ground rooms in the hotel are skilfully crafted to allow mobility and accessibility, thereby ensuring that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable.
Among the amenities we got to enjoy in our rooms are a mini-fridge, a hair dryer, a shaver plug-in the bathroom, free Wi-Fi, a personal safe, air conditioning, a telephone, a flat screen TV, and a tea and coffee maker. All these amenities ensured that our stay at Bamburi Beach Hotel was extremely comfortable and unparalleled.
The hotel also has standard rooms that can have a garden or ocean view. The standard rooms have balconies with seating areas and a queen bed, and a single bed or twin beds. The hotel’s standard rooms are mostly suitable for couples or small families.

Some of the facilities and services that my family and I really enjoyed at the hotel were the supervised kids club, the evening entertainment, the restaurants, the swimming pools, and the laundry service. Other facilities and services at the hotel include 2 bars, the gym, conference facilities, a gift shop, and a hotel doctor on call.
Dining/Cuisine
The biggest joy while staying at Bamburi Beach Hotel was dining at the hotel’s two restaurants. Our favorite was Zuri restaurant, which was a beautiful, rustic, and open-air restaurant, offering a blend of African, Indian, and European cuisines in buffet-style for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At the Zuri restaurant, we got the opportunity to experience diverse culinary options, including an African Corner, a live grill, an Indian Corner, and a Pasta Station. We also had a chance to learn about the local Kenyan dishes while dining at the Zuri restaurant. It is definitely a culinary experience that we won’t forget in a hurry. At Zuri restaurant, breakfast was served between 7 am and 10 am, lunch between 12.30 and 2.30 pm, and dinner between 7 pm and 10 pm.
We also dined at the Kula restaurant while at the Bamburi Beach Hotel. The most amazing thing about the Kula Restaurant was its suspension on a deck, which allowed us to enjoy the spectacular views of the beach and the Indian Ocean. The rich flavors served at the restaurant and the warm hospitality of the staff made dining at Kula restaurant even more incredible. When we wanted afternoon tea and snacks, Kula restaurant was the place to get them. If you want to hold a private function, the Kula restaurant at Bamburi Beach Hotel is the place for you.
One thing that I found exemplary is the fact that if you don’t want to go down to any of the restaurants to eat, you can be provided with a room service menu, which is available 24 hours a day. The only thing you do to be provided with room services is to dial the extension number 3070 from your room.

Apart from the comfort and luxury at the hotel, we also had a chance to enjoy ourselves by engaging in the wide array of activities at the hotel. Some of the activities my family and I found very enjoyable included swimming, beach volleyball, water volleyball, and beach football. Other activities that guests can also engage in at the hotel to ensure they enjoy their stay, bond, and make unforgettable memories include water aerobics, table tennis, Boccia game, and pool table. All these activities ensure that your stay at Bamburi Beach Hotel is unparalleled and magical.
We also learned that you can hold social events or celebrations such as birthdays and engagement parties, anniversaries, and weddings at Bamburi Beach Hotel, ensuring your experiences and those of your guests are unforgettable. Bamburi Beach Hotel also has conference facilities for day-long or even longer conferences. To ensure your conference is successful, the hotel provides an LCD projector and PA system, coffee and tea (at 10.00 am and 4.00 pm), buffet lunch with one soft drink, flip charts and stands, pens, writing pads, marker pens, mineral water, sweets, and free Wi-Fi.
