What to Expect

This 8-day safari takes you through Kenya’s most iconic wildlife destinations, offering a mix of adventure and breathtaking landscapes. You’ll visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to the last two northern white rhinos and a chimpanzee sanctuary. Then, explore Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its flamingos and rhinos.

The journey continues to the Masai Mara, where you’ll experience thrilling game drives, spot the Big Five, and witness the Great Migration (seasonal). Enjoy an optional hot air balloon safari for panoramic views of the Mara.

Itinerary

Day 1Nairobi to Ol Pejeta

Your safari begins with a scenic drive from Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a unique wildlife sanctuary at the foot of Mount Kenya. Home to the world’s last two northern white rhinos, Ol Pejeta is a haven for diverse wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes.

Visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, where rescued chimps are cared for, and embark on an afternoon game drive across the conservancy’s vast savannahs. This is one of the best places to spot black rhinos, along with other predators and prey. The varied landscapes, from open plains to woodlands, provide stunning photo opportunities.

End the day with a peaceful evening in the conservancy, watching the sun set behind Mount Kenya.

Day 2Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart Ol Pejeta and journey to Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its vibrant birdlife, especially the thousands of flamingos that line its shores. The lake’s alkaline waters create a perfect habitat for these striking pink birds, offering a breathtaking sight against the blue sky.

Beyond its bird population, the park is home to a variety of wildlife, including giraffes, buffalos, and both white and black rhinos. Day 3Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, check out and drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve, known for its open plains and abundant wildlife. On arrival, have lunch at the lodge before heading out for an afternoon game drive.

The Maasai Mara is home to the Big Five lions, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, and leopards and is famous for the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross the Mara River. The reserve is also a great place to see predators like lions and cheetahs in action.

With its mix of grasslands, forests, and rivers, the park offers excellent wildlife viewing and photography. After the drive, return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 4Masai Mara National Reserve

Day 5Full Day at Masai Mara National Reserve

Day 6Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha

Day 7Lake Naivasha to Amboseli National Park
