Begin your self-drive journey from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru, a 2 to 2.5-hour drive (about 160 km) via the Naivasha route. After checking into your accommodation, you can take some time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. In the afternoon, head into Lake Nakuru National Park for a game drive. The park is known for its abundance of wildlife, including rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, and the famous flamingos that often line the shores of Lake Nakuru. If you’re lucky, you may also spot lions and leopards. After your game drive, return to your lodge or campsite for dinner and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Start your day early with a morning game drive, offering another chance to see wildlife at its most active. Lake Nakuru is also home to numerous bird species, including the endangered white rhino and black rhino, as well as plenty of waterfowl. After your game drive, return to your accommodation for breakfast, then check out. Before leaving, you can visit the Baboon Cliff for stunning panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding park. Begin your journey back to Nairobi in the late morning or early afternoon, arriving in the city by late afternoon or early evening.
