The three-day tour begins and ends in Kampala, Uganda’s capital city, with a gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, situated in the southwestern part of the country approximately an eight-hour drive from Kampala. Alternatively, the tour can start and finish in Kigali, Rwanda, which offers a shorter drive to Bwindi than the route from Kampala. Day one is dedicated to travel, day two features the gorilla trekking adventure, and the journey back concludes on the third day.

3 Hours Before Flight Time
Your tour guide/driver will pick you up from your hotel in either Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning at 7:00 AM to begin the scenic drive to the southwest, heading to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, you’ll have a stop at the equator for some photo opportunities and a fun water flow experiment. A lunch break will follow in Mbarara. You’ll then continue the journey, arriving at Bwindi in the early evening.
Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Rushaga Gorilla Camp.
After breakfast at the lodge, you’ll head to the National Park Headquarters to meet your guides and begin the unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure. Led by experienced guides and trackers, you’ll embark on an early morning hike into the dense rainforest along the slopes of the mountains.
The trek, which involves navigating thick vegetation and steep terrain, offers a truly rewarding experience the rare opportunity to observe mountain gorillas up close in their natural habitat. You’ll be just meters away from these incredible creatures, witnessing their behaviors and daily routines firsthand. With only around 880 mountain gorillas left in the wild, this is a once-in-a-lifetime encounter you’ll never forget.
After the trek, you’ll return to the lodge. If time permits, you may also enjoy a guided forest walk or visit a nearby community. Please note: the trek can be quite demanding, sometimes lasting up to six hours or more and taking place at high altitudes. While sightings of gorillas are not guaranteed due to their wild nature, the success rate is over 90%. Overnight stay at Rushaga Gorilla Camp.
After breakfast, you’ll begin your return journey to Kampala. Along the way, you’ll cross the equator once again, with a chance to take memorable photos and shop for a few souvenirs. A quick picnic lunch will be provided en route. From there, you’ll proceed to Entebbe International Airport in time for your flight back home.
